JAMB Subject Combination for Fine / Applied Art

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Fine / Applied Art under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are: Chemistry, Mathematics and Fine Art/Physics

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Fine / Applied Art)

(i) UNIUYO does not require Mathematics.

(ii) UNIZIK requires any three Arts/Social subjects.

(iii) OOU accepts any three subjects from Arts, Sciences or Social Sciences excluding Commerce, Bookkeeping and Shorthand.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Fine / Applied Art)

To apply for Fine / Applied Art as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts and two other from social science subject.

For NTC the other two relevant subjects could be from any of the following: Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design; Wall Handling, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Graphic Painting; Ceramics; Basic Electricity; Building/Engineering Drawing

Direct Entry And SSCE

(i) LAUTECH may accept ND/NCE with upper credit. in related fields plus UTME requirements.

(ii) OOU accepts NCE in Fine Arts or Applied Arts.

(ii) ABSU accepts good passes at HSC, GCE Advance level or NCE Examination in Fine Arts with an Average of B and minimum of five credits. Credit including English Language in SSCE or its equivalent

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Fine / Applied Art)

(i) LAUTECH accepts Agricultural Science, Human Health and Nutrition as Science subjects.

(ii) ABSU requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts and any other two subjects for a four years programme. For Five year programme, five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects.

(iii) UNIUYO accepts a pass (P7) in Mathematics. The department will assess the candidate’s real art pieces.

(iv) OOU Five Credit passes to include English language Mathematics and any other three (3) subjects.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Fine / Applied Art)

To apply for Fine / Applied Art as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:

(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Fine Art/Tech. Drawing and any one of Tech. Draw., Mathematics, Economics, Geo., Bio., Physics and Chemistry.

(ii) ND/HND in Fine Art at Credit level.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNIUYO requires:
(a) Two (2) A’ level GCE papers in relevant subjects including Fine Arts, ND in Fine Arts (Upper credit), NCE in Fine Arts or equivalent qualifications in addition to O’ level requirement.

(ii) OOU requires candidates to submit a portfolio containing certified samples of their works to the HOD, Fine Arts.

(iii) UNIJOS requires two (2) ‘A’ Level GCE/IJMB passes of which one must be fine Art or Technical Drawing. NCE Lower Credit, a National Diploma in Fine Arts with a minimum of lower credit from a recognized institution. Any other relevant qualifications may be considered. Portfolio assessment may be required. However, candidates must also satisfy the minimum ‘O’ level entry requirements as specified in (a) above.
