JAMB Brochure for Fisheries Under Faculty of Sciences


This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Fisheries under the Faculty of Sciences in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

List of Degree Awarding Institutions that Offer Fisheries

  • Lagos State University
  • Ondo State University of Science and Technology
  • University of Lagos

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Fisheries under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are:

Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or Physics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) LASU requires Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

(ii) OSUSTECH requires Biology, Chemistry and any one of Mathematics, Physics and Agricultural Science.

(iii) UNILAG requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Fisheries as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other subject. At least a pass in Physics is required.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OSUSTECH requires five O’ level credit passes in English
language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any one of Agricultural Science, Physics and Geography.

(ii) UNILAG requires credit pass in Physics as the fifth subject.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Fisheries as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology.
(ii) NCE/HND with credit passes in Biology or Agricultural Science for 200 levels.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) CRESCENT accepts NCE/ND and approved equivalent of at least upper credit in relevant fields and IJMB at acceptable grade levels.

(ii) CRESCENT accepts at least two ‘A’ level passes in Biology and either Physics or Chemistry for candidates wishing to study Wildlife and Ecotourism.

(iii) OSUSTECH requires:
a) Two A’ level passes in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
b) National Diploma (ND) with Distinction and credit passes in relevant subjects.

(iv) UNILAG accepts:
a) Very good passes in the following three JUPEB subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
b) LAGOS does not accept NCE/HND.
