JAMB Brochure for Food Technology Under Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology


This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Food Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in Nigerian polytechnics and monotechnics. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Food Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:

Biology/Agricultural Science and any two of the
following:

(i) Physics,
2. Chemistry,
3. Mathematics and
4. Economics

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Food Technology as a UTME candidate, you require: (i) Mathematics,
2. Chemistry and
3. Biology/Agricultural
3. Science/Health Science.

And any two of the following:

(i) Physics, Technical Drawing,
2. Economics/Commerce,
3. English Language,
4. Additional/Further Mathematics,Home Economics,
Food and Nutrition,Geography plus at least credit
passes in Physics and English Language.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Food Technology as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) IBADANPOLY, GIWAPOLY,ADOPOLY, OSPOLY and LASPOTECH require credit in Mathematics.

(ii)IBADANPOLY : requires 5 credits at not more than
two sittings including Mathematics and at least a pass in Physics.

(iii)ILAROPOLY : requires a credit pass in Mathematics and at least a pass in Physics.

(iv)IBADANPOLY: and FEDPOILA does not accept
Economics as UTME subject.

(v)NUBAPOLY: offers it as Food Science and Technology.

(vi)OFFAPOLY : accepts at least a pass in English Language and Physics.

(vii)YABATECH and AKANUPOLY requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any one of the following; Physics, Additional Mathematics, Economics, Food Nutrition, Statistics and at least a pass in Physics. Also does not accept Economics as
UTME subject.

(viii)IBADANPOLY : requires Chemistry as one of the UTME subjects.

(ix)OKOPOLY: requires a credit in Mathematics, English Language Statistics,Further Mathematics,Food and Nutrition/Hotel Catering, Basic electricity, Geography

(x)NEKEDEPOLY: and RUGIPO require at least a pass in English Language and Physics.

(xi) FCAT-KANO :
(a) accept Candidates who have successfully completed NBTE recognized Pre – National Diploma (Science and Technology) course at credit level may be admitted into the programme. Such students must have at least pass grades in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one other subject chosen from Physics, Economics,Food and Nutrition, Geography in WASC or GCE ‘O’ level before undertaking the course.

(ii) do not accept the combination of two different examination bodies at SSCE O’level (it is either NECO
– NECO or WAEC –WAEC).

(xii) FEDPO – BAU accepts chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and any one of the following; Physics, Economics, Geography.

(xiii)OSPOLY : requires credit passes in two basic Sciences, Geography,Economics/Commerce.

(xiv)IMOPOLY : accepts five credits from SSCE/GCE
i/c subjects: English Language, Mathematics,
Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science/Health
Science and any one from the following:

(i) Biology/Health
2. Science/Agric. Sci
3. Physics,
4. Economics/Commerce,
5. Additional/Further
6. Mathematics
7. Home Economic,
8. Food and Nutrition,
9. Geography and A pass in Physics is accepted.

(xv)MAPOLY : requires five credits in not more than two sittings to include credit in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science with a minimum of pass in Physics and English Language.

(xvi)DELTAPOLY : accepts a pass in Physics.

(xvii)FIDEIPOLY : accepts five credits from SSCIE/GCE subjects.
The subjects are to include,
1. Mathematics,
2. Chemistry,
3. Biology/Agric.
4. Science/Health Science,
5. Economics/Commerce,
6. Additional/Further Maths, Statistics, Home 7.Economics,Food and Nutrition/Hotel Catering and Geography. A pass in English and Physics is accepted.
