JAMB Brochure for Social Works. This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Social Works under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB Subject Combination for Social Works

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Social Works under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences in the institutions listed above are: Mathematics, Economics/Geography and any other subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Social Works)

(I) UNILAG requires three Social science subjects or Arts subjects. It accepts Mathematics as UTME subjects.

(ii) UNICAL and UNN require Any three Social Science or Arts Subjects.

(iii) UNIBEN requires two Social Science subjects and any other subject.

O’Level Requirements for Social Works for UTME Candidates

To apply for Social Works as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credits including English Language and Mathematics

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Social Works)

(i) UNILAG requires English Language, Mathematics plus two Social Science subjects and one Arts subject.

(ii) UNN requires Five O’ level credit passes which must include English Language and any three Arts or Social Science Subjects.

(iii) REDEEMER’S requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and three subjects in Social Sciences or Arts.

(iv) UNICAL accept a pass in Mathematics.

(v) UNIBEN requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Government, Geography or any other Social Science subject.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Social Works as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes in any subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Social Works)

(i) UNN accepts two ‘A’ level passes plus UTME requirement.

(ii) UNIBEN accepts in addition to O’ level requirements either

(a) Two A’ level passes to include Government or History.

(b) National Diploma (ND) with at least an Upper credit-level pass in relevant discipline from a recognised Polytechnic or College of Technology.

(c) Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower credit level pass in relevant discipline from a recognised polytechnic or college of Technology.

(d) National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit –level pass in a Social Science subject from a recognised College of Education. In addition, candidates should have at least an overall merit level pass.

(iii) UNILAG accepts;

(a) Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Any three (3) of Economics, Government, Geography, History and CRS/IRS.

(b) University of Lagos Diploma in Social Development and Administration (SDA) with at least one year post qualification experience.

(c) Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirement.
