Answers to Section B (Theory)

1a. Narrate the events of Peter the apostle’s mission at Lydda and Joppa.

Peter visited Lydda where he met a man named Aeneas who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. Peter healed him in the name of Jesus Christ, and this miracle led many people in Lydda and Sharon to turn to the Lord.

After this, Peter was called to Joppa where a disciple named Tabitha (also called Dorcas) had died. She was known for her kindness and good works. When Peter arrived, he was taken to the upper room where her body was laid. After sending everyone out, Peter prayed and then commanded her to arise. She came back to life, and many people in Joppa believed in the Lord because of this miracle.

1b. What two miracles did Peter perform there?

1. Healing of Aeneas who was paralyzed.
2. Raising Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead.

1c. State two lessons Christians can learn from the event.

1. Christians should have faith in the power of God to heal and restore.
2. Believers should live lives of kindness and good works like Tabitha.

2a. Explain the vision that Peter had before visiting Cornelius.

Peter saw a vision of a large sheet coming down from heaven containing all kinds of animals, including those considered unclean by Jewish law. A voice told him to kill and eat, but Peter refused because he had never eaten anything unclean. The voice spoke again, telling him not to call anything impure that God has made clean. This vision was repeated three times, preparing Peter to accept the Gentiles as part of God’s plan of salvation.

2b. State three significance of Cornelius’ conversion to the early church.

1. It showed that salvation is for both Jews and Gentiles.
2. It marked the beginning of the spread of the gospel to non-Jews.
3. It proved that God shows no partiality and accepts all who fear Him.

2c. State three lessons Christians can learn from the boldness of Peter and John when they were arrested by the Jewish leaders.

1. Christians should boldly stand for their faith even in the face of opposition.
2. Obedience to God is more important than obedience to men.
3. Believers should rely on the Holy Spirit for courage and guidance.

3. Describe the event that leads to the martyrdom of Stephen.

Stephen, one of the seven deacons, was full of faith and power and performed great wonders among the people. Some members of the synagogue opposed him and could not withstand his wisdom. They falsely accused him of speaking against Moses and God and brought him before the Sanhedrin.

Stephen gave a powerful speech recounting Israel’s history and accused the Jewish leaders of resisting the Holy Spirit and betraying Jesus. This angered them greatly. As they were about to kill him, Stephen saw a vision of heaven opened and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Enraged, they dragged him out of the city and stoned him to death while Saul approved of his killing.

3b. Mention five (5) ways by which one can contact HIV/AIDS.

1. Unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person.
2. Sharing of infected needles or sharp objects.
3. Transfusion of infected blood.
4. From an infected mother to her child during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.
5. Use of unsterilized instruments for piercing or tattooing.

3c. Explain the meaning of civic responsibilities and state four ways a Christian can demonstrate good citizenship in the society.

Civic responsibilities are the duties and obligations of citizens to their society and government to ensure peace, order, and development.

Ways a Christian can demonstrate good citizenship include:
1. Obeying the laws of the land.
2. Paying taxes honestly.
3. Respecting authority and leaders.
4. Participating in community development and promoting peace.

How to Pass CRS Exam Questions for SS3 Second Term

Passing Christian Religious Studies (CRS) in SS3 second term is not about cramming stories. It is about understanding Bible events, learning key lessons, and knowing how to explain them clearly. If you prepare the right way, you will perform very well.

1. Know the Key Bible Topics

Focus on major topics like the early church, Peter’s ministry, conversion of Cornelius, persecution of the church, and the work of the apostles. Read these stories directly from your Bible, especially the book of Acts. This helps you understand the full story, not just summaries.

2. Study with Understanding, Not Cramming

Do not just memorize points. Understand what happened, why it happened, and the lesson behind it. For example, when reading about Peter and Cornelius, understand that God accepts all people, not just Jews.

3. Master Likely Essay Questions

CRS exams usually repeat topics in different forms. Practice questions like:

– Events in the early church
– Miracles of the apostles
– Martyrdom of Stephen
– Civic responsibility and Christian living

Learn how to explain your answers step by step.

4. Learn to State Lessons Clearly

Many questions require lessons. Always write simple and direct points. For example:

– Christians should be bold in their faith
– God shows no partiality
– Believers should live righteous lives

5. Practice Past Questions

Go through past WAEC and school exam questions. You will notice patterns. This gives you confidence and helps you manage time during the exam.

6. Use Your Bible Passages

When answering theory questions, support your answers with Bible events. You don’t need to quote everything word for word, but show that you understand the story clearly.

7. Write Neatly and Arrange Your Points

Presentation matters. Write in clear paragraphs or number your points. Leave space between answers so the examiner can read easily.

8. Revise Civic and Moral Lessons

Topics like civic responsibility, HIV/AIDS, and good citizenship are very important. Learn their meanings, examples, and practical applications.
