Music Exam Questions for JSS3 Second Term are divided into two sections:

  • Section A
  • Section B

The first section, namely, Section A is the objective test, and students are expected to attempt all questions in the section. Section B is the theory part, and students are expected to answer all the three (3) questions.

1. Key Signature of the Scale of E Minor on a Treble Staff:

E minor is the relative minor of G major, so it has the same key signature. The key signature of G major (and E minor) includes one sharp, F#.

To write the key signature of E minor on the treble staff:

  • Place one sharp (F#) on the top line of the staff.

2. Key Signature of the Scale of G Minor on a Treble Staff:

G minor has two flats in its key signature: B♭ and E♭.

To write the key signature of G minor on the treble staff:

  • Place a flat symbol on the second line (B♭).
  • Place a flat symbol on the top line (E♭).

3. Constructing the Scale of A Harmonic Minor in Ascending Order:

The A harmonic minor scale consists of the following notes:

  • A (root)
  • B (major second)
  • C (minor third)
  • D (perfect fourth)
