Basic Science Exam Questions

Introduction to Basic Science as a School Subject

Basic Science is a subject taught in junior secondary schools to help students understand the world around them. It introduces them to simple and important science concepts in nature, matter, energy, the environment, and how things work.

The subject combines parts of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Science. This gives students a strong foundation before they move on to study each of these sciences in senior secondary school.

In Basic Science, students learn by observing, experimenting, and asking questions. They learn about:

  • Living and non-living things
  • Changes in matter
  • Force, motion, and energy
  • Our solar system
  • Environmental safety and health

By studying Basic Science, students develop curiosity, thinking skills, and the habit of solving problems using evidence. This prepares them for future careers in medicine, engineering, agriculture, and technology.
