Answers to Section B (Theory)
1. Letter to your friend about your new school.
14 Community Road,
Off School Avenue,
Enugu, Nigeria.
23rd June, 2025.
Dear Chiamaka,
How are you doing? I hope this letter meets you in good health and sound mind. It’s been a while since we last saw, and I miss you so much.
I just got admitted into a new school, and I couldn’t wait to tell you about it. The name of the school is Bright Future Secondary School. From the very first day I stepped into the compound, I knew I was in the right place. The teachers are very friendly and smart. They teach with joy and make every lesson interesting. I’ve already made new friends who are serious and focused.
But what I like most about my new school is the science laboratory. It is very neat, well-equipped, and modern. We perform real experiments, not just reading from textbooks. I also enjoy the morning assembly. We sing, pray, and receive words of encouragement that lift my spirit every day.
Chiamaka, I thank God for placing me in this school. I know that with hard work and prayer, I will come out with flying colours. I look forward to the day you will visit. I’ll take you around the school myself.
Write back soon and tell me how things are going with you.
Your friend,
Chidera
2. A Day I Will Never Forget
Life is full of memories, both good and bad. But there is one day that will always remain fresh in my mind. That day was the day I received a standing ovation in school.
It happened during our school’s talent show. At first, I didn’t want to participate because I was afraid of making mistakes. But my best friend encouraged me. He said, “You’ve got the talent. Don’t hide it.” I prayed about it and finally agreed to take part.
When it was my turn to speak, I climbed the stage with shaking hands and a beating heart. I had prepared a short motivational speech on believing in yourself. As I began, my fear started to disappear. The more I spoke, the more confident I became. I poured out my heart and encouraged everyone never to give up on their dreams.
When I finished, something happened that I will never forget. The whole hall stood up and clapped for me. Some of the teachers even had tears in their eyes. That moment made me feel special and unstoppable.
That day taught me that fear is a liar, and that greatness lives in everyone. We only need to believe in ourselves and step out in faith. Since then, I’ve never been afraid to speak in public.
Truly, that was a day I will never forget.
3. My Best Teacher
In every school, there are many teachers. But there is always that one teacher who stands out. For me, that teacher is Mr. Johnson.
Mr. Johnson teaches English Language in my school. From the very first time he entered our classroom, I knew he was different. He always comes to class early, well-dressed, and with a smile on his face. He teaches with passion and makes sure every student understands before he moves on.
What I like most about Mr. Johnson is the way he encourages us. He doesn’t just teach English; he teaches us how to speak with confidence and write with boldness. Hê says things like, “Never be afraid to make mistakes. That’s how you grow.” Those words have helped me believe in myself.
Mr. Johnson is also very kind and disciplined. He corrects us with love and always wants us to be the best version of ourselves. Because of him, I now love English and dream of becoming a writer someday.
I thank God for giving me a teacher like Mr. Johnson. He has changed my life and made me believe that I can achieve anything if I work hard and trust God.
4. The Lost Wallet
It was a sunny afternoon, and I was returning from school when I noticed something shiny on the ground. I bent down and picked it up. To my surprise, it was a wallet! When I opened it, I saw plenty of money and an ID card.
At first, I was confused. I needed money to buy a new pair of sandals, but I also knew it was wrong to take what didn’t belong to me. My heart started beating fast. A voice in my head said, “Take it, no one will know.” But I remembered what my parents and teachers always say — do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
So, I ran to the nearest police station and handed the wallet over. The officer looked at me and smiled. He thanked me and promised to return it to the owner. Just as I was about to leave, a man walked in looking worried. He was the owner of the wallet! When he heard what I did, he shook my hand and said, “God bless you, my child.” He even gave me some money as a reward.
That day, I went home with joy in my heart. I didn’t just return a lost item — I did the right thing. I was so happy it ended well.
5. A Market I Have Visited
Last month, I visited Ogbete Main Market with my mother. It is one of the biggest markets in Enugu, and it was a wonderful experience.
The market was very busy and full of life. People were moving up and down, buying and selling different things. Some were shouting the names of what they were selling, while others were bargaining to get cheaper prices. I saw women selling vegetables, fruits, rice, tomatoes, and yam. Some men were also selling clothes, shoes, and electronics. The butchers were busy cutting meat, and the fish sellers had basins full of fresh fish.
The market was divided into sections. Each section had its own kind of goods. There was a section for foodstuffs, another for clothing, and even one for books and school items. Everywhere was crowded, but it was well-organized.
What surprised me the most was how the traders knew the prices of many things without looking at any book. They also treated customers with respect and smiled often.
Although the market was noisy and a bit hot, I enjoyed the visit. I learned how people work hard to earn a living. I also saw the importance of being honest, smart, and polite when selling things.
That day made me appreciate the efforts of market people. A market is truly a place where life happens every day.
