JAMB Brochure for Biological Science(s)

This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Biological Science(s) under the Faculty of Sciences in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Biological Science(s) under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) FUTA requires English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and either Mathematics or Physics.

(ii) ADELEKE accepts Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(iii) OSUSTECH accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Physics and Mathematics.

(iv) FUTO requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Biological Science(s) as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNAAB accepts:
a) ND (Upper Credit) in Biological Science, Science Laboratory Technology or related fields.
b) NCE (Credit) in Biology.
c) Two A’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/Botany/ Zoology, Physics and Mathematics.

(ii) UNN – Upper Credit / Merit in HND and ND/NCE/Degree in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(iii) ADELEKE – Upper Credit / Merit in HND and ND

(iv) ADELEKE and BSU require ‘A’ level pass in Biology/Botany/Zoology plus Chemistry/Physics.

(v) BSU requires:
a) two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany.
b) ND/HND or NCE with Upper credit in related fields.

(vi) OOU accepts HND, Final Certificate from Nigerian Institute of Science Technology (NIST)

(vii) NDU accepts ND/HND and AIMLT including General Advanced level requirements.

(viii) MAUTECH accepts:
a) Two `A’ level passes in Biology and Chemistry
b) HND in relevant field with at least lower credit

(ix) UMYU accepts Candidates with a minimum of 9 points in IJMB/ GCE A level/NCE, in Biology, Chemistry. Candidates with Lower credit pass in National Diploma in relevant subject may also be admitted.

(x) FUTO requires at least two ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C from Chemistry, Biology, Botany and Zoology. It accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in related fields. Candidates must in addition meet the UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree and NCE.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Biological Science(s) as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:

(i) Two ‘a’ level passes to include one of Botany, Zoology, Biology or Chemistry.
(ii) ND/NCE in related fields.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNN – as in combined courses.

(ii) FUAM accepts a pass in English Language.

(iii) BSU requires credit passes in English Language, Physics or Geography.

(iv) OOU accepts credit pass in any other subject from Physics and Geography.

(v) NDU requires the five ‘O’ level credit passes in more than two sittings.

(vi) BSU requires at least a pass in Physics.

(vii)UNIABUJA accepts Further Mathematics in lieu of Mathematics.

(viii) KSU, FUTO, FED-LOKOJA, OSUSTECH and CRUTECH require credit pass in Physics as the fifth subject.

(ix) ABU and UNAAB require Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(x) FUTA requires five SSCE credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science in NOT more than two sittings.

(xi) GO requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(xii) NDA requires the fifth subject from Physics, Agricultural Science, Geography or Health Science.
