JAMB Subject Combination for Building
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Building under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:

(i) ABU requires Mathematics, Physics plus any one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Biology and Technical Drawing.
O’Level Requirements for Building for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Building)
To apply for Building as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and any one of Geography, Economics, Arts and Technical drawing. For holders of NTC, the other relevant subjects could be Intro. to Building Construction, Bricklaying, Concreting, Walls, Floors and Ceiling Finishing, Building/Engineering Drawing, Joinery, Carpentry, Gas, Steam Work and Bronze Welding, Cold/Hot Water Supply, Sanitation and Drainage.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Building)
(i) UNILAG – The 5th subject should be one of Technical Drawing, Building Construction or Economics.
(ii) OAU accepts any one of Add. Mathematics, Biology, Building Construction and Land Surveying in addition to the listed options.
(iv) MAUTECH accepts Mathematics and any three of Building Construction, Geography, Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing.
(v) AAU Chemistry is not compulsory.
(vi) UNIJOS accepts Holders of HSC, GCE ‘A’ level passes and a minimum of two sittings in Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry or both and credit in at least two subjects passes at ‘O’ level from the following: Building, Construction, Land Surveying, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Economics, Additional Mathematics, Geography including English Language.
(vii) BELLS requires Five SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any one from the following:, Biology, Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Building Construction..
(vii) COVENANT requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics and additional two credit passes in the following subjects: Chemistry, Economics, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Land Surveying, Building Construction, Biology and Agricultural Science. At least a pass in Chemistry is also required.
(viii) CALEB requires five SSCE credit passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any two of Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Economics, Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
(ix) ABSU requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two subjects from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Geography, Arts and Economics or any NTC relevant subjects.
(x) BAUCHI requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Any other two subjects from Chemistry, Geography, Economics, technical Drawing or relevant trade subjects.
(xi) FUTA – The 5th subject should be taken from Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Building Construction and Technical Drawing.
(xii) ABU requires five ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Physics plus any two of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Fine Arts or Technical Drawing, Economics and Further Mathematics
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates
To apply for Building as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIJOS accepts ND/HND with a GPA not less than 3.50 in Building or Civil Engineering for the 200 level.
(ii) MAUTECH accepts Pass at HND level or ND at Lower credit level in Building or any relevant discipline
(iii) IMSU and OAU accept candidates with ND/HND (Upper credit) in relevant fields into 200/300 level provided they satisfy the following:
(a) ND course must include Mathematics at ND II level;
(b) Have equivalent of ‘A’ level in Mathematics.
(iv) BAUCHI, MAUTECH and FUTMINNA accept ND/HND lower credit in relevant courses.
(v) UNIUYO accepts ND (upper credit) and HND (lower credit).
(vi) AAU accepts pass in Chemistry. ND/HND in relevant fields.
(vii) UNIJOS would admit the holders of ND in Building Engineering, and other appropriate disciplines with passes at Lower Credit level and above plus credit pass in Mathematics, Physics, English Language listed in
(viii) ABU accepts:
(a) ‘A’ level /IJMB passes in Mathematics and Physics plus any one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Geography.
(b) ND in Building with Upper Credit from accredited Institution.
(c) HND in Building with lower credit from accredited institution.
(ix) CALEB accepts holders of National Diploma (ND) will be considered for admission to Years II provided they satisfy the following:
(a) they must score not less than upper credit or 60% overall average in the ND examination.
(b) in addition, they must also obtain in not more than two sittings at least five credit in the Senior Certificate or its equivalent in English Language. Mathematics and Physics and any two subjects from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Economics. Further Mathematics and Biology. Holders of other qualifications such as HSC, GCE A/L will be considered for 200 level
(x) FUTA accepts:
(a) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics at one sitting.
(b) ND in Building, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or Civil Engineering with Upper Credit from accredited Institution.
(c) Any additional pass in Chemistry, Geography or Economics may be an advantage.
(xi) UNILAGOS accepts;
(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
(b) HND/OND (Distinction) in Building /Quantity Surveying into 300/200 levels.
(c) Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirements.
