JAMB Brochure for Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts

This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

List of Degree Awarding Institutions that Offer Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts

  • Delta State University
  • Federal University, Ndufu-alike
  • Niger Delta University
  • University of Benin
  • University of Nigeria

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:

Fine Art and two other Arts subjects or Social Science subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) NDU accepts any three subjects.

(ii) UNIBEN accepts two Arts subjects and any other subject.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Fine Art.
For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Linig, Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing; General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Graphic Design; Graphic
For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing; General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Graphic Design; Graphic Printing and Ceramics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNIBEN accepts five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and one Arts subject. It also accepts candidates without Fine Arts at ‘O’ levels.

(ii) NDU requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language and any four of the following; Literature in English, Fine Arts, History, Geography, Economics and Religious Studies.

(iii) UNN requires five credits pass to include English Language Fine and Applied Arts and one Science subject. Candidates who possess NABTEB/NTC must have 5 credit passes which must include English language, Technical drawing, Painting and decorating and a science subject.

(iv) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language and any four other subjects in not more than two sittings.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Art or Fine Art and any other subject.

(ii) ND (Upper Credit) HND (Lower credit) from recognised institutions.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNIBEN requires at least ‘A’ level passes in GCE or HSC in Fine Arts and any other subject, the subject must include Literature in English. It accepts ND Upper Credit level pass or HND lower Credit level pass in Fine Arts subject from recognised institution.

(ii) UNN requires:
(a) Three GCE A’ level passes in Fine Arts or Technical Drawing plus UTME requirements.
(b) HND holders with an average of B grade with UTME requirement into 300 level.
(c) ND/NCE at merit level with UTME requirements.
(d) Candidates would be interviewed.

(iii) NDU requires a pass in English Literature at the Advanced level GCE, or at the Principal level in the HSC exams or merit at the NCE, and in at least one other Arts subject, Fine and Industrial Arts or Theatre Arts.
