JAMB Subject Combination for History
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study History under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:
History and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for History)
(i) OAU require History and any two Arts subjects.
(ii) UNIZIK requires Lit. in English, History/Government and any other Arts or Social Science subject.
(iii) NDU require English Language, Govt./History plus any other two subjects.
(iv) UNIABUJA, FULOKOJA and ABSU accept Government in lieu of History.
(v) UNIBEN accepts History or Government, one Arts subject and any other subject.
(vi) UMYU requires five credit passes in English Language, History/Government plus three other relevant subjects and a pass in Mathematics
(vii) SAU accept Government in lieu of History.
(viii) ABU requires History or Government and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
(ix) BSU accepts Government in lieu of History.
(x) TASU accepts Hausa and any two relevant Arts or Social Science subject.
(xi) FUL requires CRK/IRS and any other relevant subject.
(xii) UNN accepts History or Government and two other Arts or Social Science subjects.
O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for History)
To apply for History as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include History and English Language.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for History)
(i) SAU and UNIBEN require credit passes in English, History/Government and one other Arts subject.
(ii) UNN and ABU require Five ‘O’ level credits in English Language, History/Govt. plus any three other subjects.
(iii) UI accepts Five ‘O’ level credits at ONE sitting or Six ‘O’ level credit at TWO sittings to include English Language, History, Government, and any other subject from Arts and Social Science. The sixth could be from Science.
(iv) UMYU requires five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, one of History or Government, any three subjects from Arts or Social Science and a pass in Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
(v) FULOKOJA and UNN accept credit in Government in lieu of History and three other Arts or Social Science subjects.
(vi) OAU requires five “O” level credit passes to include History and English Language plus one Arts subject; and any other two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences. Accepts Government in lieu of History.
(vii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include History or Government, English Language and three other subjects in Arts or Social Science.
(viii) KASU accepts Government in lieu of History.
(ix) BSU requires credit passes in History/Government.
(x) NDA requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, History and two other subjects from Commerce, Geography, Economics, French, Arabic, Account and Government.
(xi) FUL requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, History/Government and any other relevant subjects.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for History)
To apply for History as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes in History and any other related subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for History)
(i) UDU and UNIMAID accept NCE at merit pass level in relevant subjects. (NAU requires two ‘A’ level passes in History and any other
(ii) GOMSU accepts NCE merit in History as Major subject.
(iii) ABU accepts Two ‘A’ level papers including History at IJMB or NCE. General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies’ O’ level English requirement.
(iv) UNIABUJA accepts ND (Lower credit) with UTME requirements plus two years post qualification.
(v) UNIBEN accepts ‘A’ level pass in Government in lieu of History, NCE (credit) in History; Government or Social Studies.
(vi) SAU accepts two ‘A’ level passes in History or Government, credit passes in NCE in relevant subjects.
(vii) UI accepts two ‘A’ level/NCE passes in History and any other related subjects.
(viii) UNN requires O’ level with a minimum of five credits which must include History or Government, English Language, and a science subject.
(ix) UNIABUJA accepts: A minimum of 10 points in NCE or Upper credit in National Diploma in addition to O’ Level requirements OR two A Level credit passes including History or Government and one other Arts subject.
