JAMB Subject Combination for Home Science and Management

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Home Science and Management under the Faculty of Agriculture in the institutions listed above are: Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture and Mathematics or Physics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Home Science and Management)

(i) Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics/ Mathematics or Food and Nutrition or one social science subject (Economics or Geography).

(ii) FUAM requires Chemistry, Biology or Agric. Science, Mathematics or Physics.

(iii) UNAAB requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics.

(iv) UNN requires Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition and one of Physics/Mathematics, Economics or Geography.

O’Level Requirements for Home Science and Management for UTME Candidates

To apply for Home Science and Management as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes including Chemistry, Biology/ Agric Science, Mathematics and at least a pass in English and Physics, General Metal Work, General Wood Work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Furniture Design and Construction, Upholstery Design and Construction, Spray Painting and Period Furniture, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing, Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing and Basic Electricity.

(i) UNN In addition to the UTME/General University Entry requirements, a candidate must obtain credit passes in Chemistry, Biology or Food and Nutrition or Agricultural Science.

(ii) UNAAB requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(iii) FUAM requires Five (5) SSC/WASC/GCE O’ level/NECO at not more than two sittings, categorized as follows:

a) two credit passes in Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science or Health Science.

b) three credit passes: of Geography, Physics, Mathematics Food and Nutrition, Home Management, Clothing and Textiles and credit in English Language. The successful students of the University Remedial science programme shall be considered for admission to year 1 (100 level) after having passed the minimum requirement for JAMB. All admissions into the University programme must be through JAMB.

(iv) RSUST requires five credit level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science/Agricultural Science and three other subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Government, Geography, Commerce, Home Economics, Fine Arts, Clothing and Textile at not more than two sittings.

(v) KSU requires credit passes at SSCE and/or GCE O/L in English Language. Chemistry, Biology or Agric. Science, Mathematics, Nutrition/Home Economics and at least a pass in Physics.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Home Science and Management as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Agric Science/ Economics/Physics/Mathematics/Geography/Accounting.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNAAB accepts upper credit in NCE and ND in Food Science and Technology, Home Economics, Hotel Management and Tourism. Clothing and Textile from a recognized institution in addition to UTME requirements.

(ii) OOU accepts candidates not less than 35 years old with at least 10 years cognate working experience plus a ND or HND in the relevant discipline and O/L English Language and Maths may be admitted after successful oral interview.

(iii) UNN accepts:

a) Two ‘A’ level passes (London/Cambridge/ Cameroon) (in Chemistry and any of Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science. Economics, Physics Geography/Geology, Mathematics (Pure and Applied) in addition to UTME entry requirements.

b) OND/NCE/HND and Degree holders in Agricultural Science/Animal Health and related fields with a minimum of Lower Credit (Merit) in addition to UTME Entry requirements

(iv) FUAM accepts:

a) HSC/GCE `A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics may be admitted to 200 level.

b) HND holders with upper credit in relevant disciplines who posses the UTME requirements may be admitted to 300 level.

c) ND holders with upper credit in relevant disciplines who possess the UTME requirement may be admitted to 200 level.

d) NCE holders with lower credit in relevant disciplines who possess UTME requirements may be admitted to 200 level. NCE holders with lower credit in relevant disciplines who posses UTME requirements may be admitted to 100 level.

e) NCE holders with merit in relevant disciplines who possess UTME requirements may be admitted to 100 level (Food Science or Hotel Management or any relevant course).

(v) RSUST accepts:

a) ND/NCE/SRN, WAHEB. C and G Finals in Home Economics/Food Science/ Nutrition/Agriculture/ Nursing/Pubic Health/ Laboratory Science/Hotel and Catering Management plus two other credits at O’ level or ND/NCE/SRN, WAHEB, CandG Finals in Home Economics/Food Science/ Nutrition/ Agriculture /Nursing/Public Health/ Laboratory Science /Hotel and Catering for admissions into 200 level.

b) B.Sc in any other relevant discipline for admission into 300 level.
