JAMB Subject Combination for Physics

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Physics under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biology.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNIBADAN requires Physics and two other Science subjects.

(ii) UNILORIN, IGBINEDION and FUTA. Accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(iii) DELSU and OAU accept Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Mathematics.

(iv) FUTA and OAU require Chemistry

(v) FUTO, UNIOSUN, FED-LOKOJA, UNN, UNILAG, FED-LAFIA, UNAAB, FUAM, SALEM, ADELEKE, UNIBEN, CRUTECH and BASU require Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

(vi) UNICAL and BELLS does not accept Biology as UTME subject.

(vii) NTNU accepts any Science subjects and AJAYI do not accept Agric Science or Economics.

(viii) AAUA does not accept Biology as one of UTME subject

(ix) NTNU accepts Mathematics, Physics and any other Science subject.

(x) TASU requires Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(xi) EVANGEL accepts Geography in lieu of Chemistry or Biology.

(xii) KWASU requires English chosen course and any Two From Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics.

O’Level Requirements for Physics for UTME Candidates

To apply for Physics as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other Science subject from Further mathematics and Biology or Agricultural Science.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNIBEN requires credit pass in Mathematics and any other Science subject in addition to English Language, Physics and Chemistry.

(ii) OOU requires Physics and Mathematics and any other two Science subjects.

(iii) UNICAL require credits in Biology/Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Maths, candidates with a pass in English Language may be allowed to remedy the deficiency during the first year of study by taking and passing the UNICAL Remedial English. Accepts pass in Chemistry/ Biology /Mathematics.

(iv) UNIZIK accept P.7 in English Language

(v) ANSU, IMSU and DELSU may accept a pass in English Language.

(vi) FUTA requires credit to include English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

(vii) MOUAU requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other relevant Science subject.

(viii) UNIBADAN requires 5 or 6 credit passes at one or two sittings to include English. Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any other two Science subjects.

(ix) NDU requires the five ‘O’ level credit passes in not more than two sittings.

(x) UNIPORT requires credit in Biology and Mathematics or Physics.

(xi) UNAAB requires a credit pass in Biology Science.

(xii) MAUTECH requires a credit pass in any subject as the fifth subject.

(xiii) AJAYI requires The required five (5) credit passes must include: English Language, mathematics and any other three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electronics and any other subject at one sitting or six (6) credit passes at two sittings.

(xiv) UNIJOS accepts candidates who have satisfied the UTME requirements plus a pass in Remedial Science Programme of the University of Jos.

(xv) UNIUYO requires a credit passes in Chemistry and English Language.

(xvi) UMYU requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any of Biology, Agricultural Science and Geography in not more than two sittings.

(xvii) UNN accepts five ‘O’ level Credit passes in Physics, Mathematics and English Language as well as two (2) other credit passes from Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Biology, further mathematics, statistics, Technical drawing and Geography at SSCE/GCE/NECO or its equivalent.

(xviii) KSU requires English Language, Mathematic, Physics and any other two subjects preferably Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agric. Science and Economics or Geography.

(xix) WUSTO requires five ‘O’ level credit in English, Physics, Mathematics and any other 2 subjects preferably Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Geography and Biology in that order.

(xx) UNIOSUN accepts any other Science subject as the fifth subject at one sitting.

(xxi) NTNU accepts English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two Science subjects.

(xxii) GODFREY requires Five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(xxiii) BELLS requires five SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Geography/ Further Mathematics/ Agricultural Science.

(xxiv) REDEEMER’S requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry Mathematics, and any of Further Mathematics, Biology or Geography.

(xxv) BOWEN requires five SSCE Credit Passes to include English Language, Mathematics/Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subjects, including Geography.

(xxvi) WESTERN-DEL requires credit pass in Biology as the fifth subject.

(xxvii) FUPRE requires at least a pass in Biology.

(xxviii) OSUSTECH requires Biology or Geography as the fifth subject.

(xxix) SALEM accepts credit passes in Chemistry and Geography.

(xxx) EVANGEL does not accept credit pass in Geography but does not accept Agricultural Science.

(xxxi) GODFREY requires for Physics with Electronics SSCE credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Biology or Chemistry and any other Science subject.

(xxxii) KWASU requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics and any three of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science.

(xxxiii) CRUTECH accepts any relevant Science or Social Science subject as the fifth subject.

(xxxiv) FUAM accepts credit pass in Further Mathematics, Statistics, Technical Drawing, Geography or electronics in lieu of Biology, or Agricultural Science. Require O’ Level in SSCE or equivalent at not more than two sittings.

(xxxv) NDA requires five O’ level credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing and Geography.

(xxxvi) FED-LAFIA requires five credit passes at SSCE including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xxxvii) UNILAG requires a credit pass in Further Mathematics as the fifth subject.

(xxxviii) FED-LOKOJA requires Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics and any other two Science subject.

(xxxix) SOUTHWESTERN accepts:

a) HND

b) IJMB/NCE/ND

c) Accept NCE merit passes in Physics and Mathematics or ND credit passes in Elect/Elect/Telecommunication Engineering Science Tech and Mathematics.

(xl) FUTO requires at least five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and any other Science subject from Further Mathematics and Biology or Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings.

(xli) UNIABUJA accepts five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics and any other three subjects preferably Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography in that order.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Physics as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: NCE/Two ‘A’ level A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OAU and BSU accept Physics and Chemistry at ‘A’ level.

(ii) UNIMAID, BSU and UNIUYO accept NCE (Merit pass) with Physics major.

(iii) BINGHAM and UNIBADAN requires accepts NCE/ND (credit/merit) in Mathematics and one other approved Science subject.

(iv) UNN accepts:

a) NCE Physics or ND or HND in Physics or Engineering.

b) Two A’ level passes in physics and Mathematics plus UTME requirements in both cases.

(v) FUTA accepts ND at Upper Credit or its equivalent in Science Technology, Electronics and Electrical Engineering or a minimum of two (2) GCE Advanced Level (A/L) passes in Physics and Mathematics at one sitting or its equivalent.

(vi) FUTMINNA, BAYERO and KUST accept NCE (credit),ND/HND (lower credit) plus O/level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics and two other Science subjects. BAYERO accepts one other Science subject. BSU accepts HND (Upper credit) only. FUTMINNA accepts five credit passes in relevant subjects.

(vii) ANSU accepts ND/HND at credit level in relevant fields and a pass in English Language under exceptional circumstances.

(viii) UNIPORT, ABSU and IMSU – No Direct Entry.

(ix) ANSU and MAUTECH accept ND (lower credit) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

(x) DELSU and ABSU accept NCE merit passes in Physics and Mathematics or ND credit passes in Elect/Elect/Telecommunication Engineering Science Tech and Mathematics.

(xi) SALEM and MOUAU require A’ level passes in Physics and Maths/Further Maths.

(xii) UNILORIN accepts NCE (Distinction / Merit passes )in Physics and Mathematics plus UTME requirements.

(xiii) DELSU accepts NCE merit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It also accepts ND credit pass in Science Technology.

(xiv) BIU accepts ND/NCE at Upper credit level only

(xv) UNICAL requires two ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in Physics and either Chemistry or Mathematics plus WASCE/GCE ‘O’ level/NECO passes at credit level in Physics, English Language, Mathematics and two Science subjects.

(xvi) UNAAB accepts:

a) ND (Upper Credit) in Physics, Electrical Electronic, Science Laboratory Technology or related fields.

b) NCE (Credit) in Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science.

c) Two A’ level credit passes in Physics, Chemistry or Biology

(xvii) IGBINEDION accepts Physics plus one of Mathematics or Chemistry, ND in Elect./Elect. and Science Technology.

(xviii) UDUSOK accepts National Diploma at credit level in relevant field plus O’ level credit in Physics, Mathematics.

(xix) OOU accepts two ‘A’ level subjects including Physics and any other Science subject. ND with a minimum of Lower credit in Geography, Elect/ Electronics, Mech. Engr., Pure and Applied Science, Science Lab. Tech., Final Certificate in NIST and Data Processing (Lower credit).

(xx) EKSU accepts Biology in lieu of Mathematics.

(xxi) UNIBEN in addition to UTME requirements, requires:

a) 2 ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Chemistry/ Mathematics; ND (Upper credit) /HND (Lower credit) in Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Engineering and related courses; NCE (Overall Merit) with credit pass in Physics.

(xxii) AAU accepts credit pass in relevant National Diploma or 2 ‘A’ level passes or their equivalent plus 5 credit passes at not more than 2 sittings.

(xxiii) AJAYI requires two ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Studies OR ND Certificate in Computer Studies (Upper Credit) OR two ICT Certificate passes. OR NCE with Distinction/credit in any two of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Computer Studies in addition to requirements in (a).

(xxiv) CRUTECH and RSUST require Mathematics and Physics.

(xxv) CRESCENT accepts NCE/ND and approved equivalent of at least upper credit in relevant fields and IJMB at acceptable grade levels.

(xxvi) AAUA accepts ND in Physics or Applied Mathematics at credit level.

(xxvii) GOMSU accepts ND/HND/NCE/IJAMB/ GCE ‘A’ or its equivalent in addition to five stated credits.

(xxviii) BIU requires in addition to the O ‘level requirements specified , a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) or National Diploma in relevant field not below credit level.

(xxix) BOWEN accepts ‘A’ Level /IJMB/NCE/ ND or approved equivalent in Mathematics and Physics. In exceptional cases Physics and Chemistry may be considered.

(xxx) WUSTO does not accepts Chemistry in lieu of Mathematics

(xxxi) FUTA accepts ND at Upper Credit level in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or Science Technology in passes at one sitting in Physics, Maths and Chemistry in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements.

(xxxii) UNIOSUN accepts ‘A’ Level pass in Geography in lieu of Mathematics and Chemistry. Accepts also ND (Lower Credit) and approved equivalents.

(xxxiii) UNICAL accepts ‘A’ level or its equivalent in Physics and either Chemistry or Mathematics plus O/L credit passes in Physics, English Language, Mathematics and two Science subjects.

(xxxiv) BELLS accepts:

a) Two A’ level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

b) ND/HND in related field plus UTME requirements

(xxxv) WESTERN-DEL accepts:

a) NCE/Two ‘A’ level passes in Physics and mathematics or Chemistry.

b) ND with at least merit pass in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Science Technology.

(xxxvi) ADELEKE accepts ND (Upper credit) in Electrical/Electronic from recognized Polytechnics.

(xxxvii) RHEMA accepts ND/NCE in related discipline plus UTME requirement.

(xxxviii) TASU:

a) Requires three A’ level passes which must include Physics combination.

b) Accepts NCE (merit) and ND/HND (credit) in related fields in addition to UTME requirement.

(xxxix) EVANGEL accepts two A’ level passes in Biology, Zoology, Botany and Chemistry or Physics.

(xl) KWASU accepts:

a) Two G.C.E. A/L or its equivalent, one of which must be in relevant subject.

b) ND with (minimum Upper Credit) in relevant field.

c) HND (lower credit) in relevant field.

d) NCE Candidate with minimum of Credit passes in relevant subjects may be considered for Direct Entry Admission provided they possess the necessary O’L requirements

(xli) FUAM accepts in addition to UTME requirements:

a) HND – 200 Level

b) NCE (2 Credits in relevant areas) – 200 Level.

c) ND (Minimum of lower Credit) – 100 Level

d) Two A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics – 200 level.

(xlii) MCPHERSON accepts ND/HND/NCE/GCE ‘A’ level or its equivalent in addition to five stated credits.

(xliii) CALEB accepts ND at Credit level in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic, Electrical Engineering or Sciences related studies may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sitting.

(xliv) UNILAG accepts:

a) Very good passes in the following three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

b) Candidate must satisfy O/L requirement which include credit in Further Mathematics.

c) Does not accept ND/HND.

(xlv) NDU accepts HSC, ND passes in any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Geography.

(xlvi) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Science subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields.

(xlvii) OSUSTECH accepts:

a) Two A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry.

b) National Diploma (ND) with Distinction and Credit passes in relevant subjects.

(xlviii) KUST accepts ND/HND (Lower Credit) and NCE (credit) plus O’ level credit in physics, mathematics, chemistry and one other science subject.

(xlix) Futo requires at least two ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Physics and Mathematics. It accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering. Candidates must in addition meet the UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree and NCE.
