In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Biochemistry under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences in the institutions listed above are: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Biochemistry )

To apply for Biochemistry as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(i) UNIBADAN require the O level Credit passes at one sitting.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Biochemistry )

To apply for Biochemistry as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Biology/Zoology/Botany and Maths.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNIBADAN requires two A’ level passes from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany plus UTME requirements.

(ii) UNIBEN requires three A’ level passes to include Biology/Zoology, Chemistry and Physics plus UTME requirements.

(iii) LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry; and Physics or Mathematics /ND with Upper Credit /HND in related discipline (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for 200 level.

(iv) UNICAL does not admit Direct Entry.

(v) FUTO requires at least ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C in Physics and any two of Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. It also accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in Bio-medical Technology, Bio-medical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates must in addition meet UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree or NCE.
