In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Food Science and Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are: Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics or Biology.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Food Science and Technology)

To apply for Food Science and Technology as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OAU does not accept Biology in lieu of Physics.

(ii) FUTO requires Biology as the fifth (5th) subject.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Food Science and Technology)

To apply for Food Science and Technology as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:
(i)‘A’ level passes in two of Physics Chemistry, and Mathematics.
(ii) ND/HND (upper credit) in relevant fields.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Food Science and Technology)

(i) OAU accepts ND (Upper credit) in Food Science and Technology

(ii) FUTO requires at least two ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. It also accepts at least Upper Credit ND/HND in relevant fields. Candidates must in addition meet UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree or NCE.

(iii) OAU accepts ND/HND (upper credit) plus five credits at ‘O’ level.

(iv) UNIMAID accepts a credit pass in Biology.

(v) WUSTO accepts:
(a) At least 2 “A” level passes in Chemistry, Agricultural Science or Biology, Physics or Home Economics.
(b) Upper Credit passes in NCE and ND in addition to 5 Credits at WASC/GCE O’L /SSCE (or its equivalent)
