JAMB Subject Combination for Industrial Design
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Industrial Design under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are: Chemistry, Mathematics and Fine Art/Physics.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Industrial Design)
(i) ABU accepts NCE (Double Major) in Art and ND/HND (credit) in relevant fields.
(ii) ABU accepts
a. “A” level / IJMB passes in Chemistry, and any of Physics and Mathematics
b. ND in Glass Technology pass at Credit level. from accredited institution
c. NCE in Chemistry, pass at credit level.
d. HND in Science, Materials Science and Engineering, or in Chemical Engineering at Credit level from accredited institution.
(iii) BAUCHI accepts ND/HND (upper credit) NCE (Double Major) in Fine Art, A’ Level in Fine and Applied Arts.
(iv) FUTA accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in at least two subjects from the following: Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Physics, Fine Art, Technical Drawing or Economics
(vi) MAUTECH accepts
(a) Two or three GCE `A’ Level passes one of which must be in Fine Art/Technical Drawing
(b) NCE Double Major in Fine Arts
(c) ND/HND with Upper credit in Art Design
O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Industrial Design)
To apply for Industrial Design as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Fine Art, Mathematics, Chemistry. Spinning; Weaving; Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Ceramics; Graphic Design; Graphic Printing; Decorative Painting, Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design, Wall Hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing, Building/Engineering Drawing, General Wood Work.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Industrial Design)
(i) FUTA requires five credit passes at the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSSCE) or NECO or GCE O’Level or its equivalent in NOT more than two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and 2 of the following: Economics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Fine Art and Geography. Credit or Pass in Fine Art will be an additional advantage, while a pass grade in Physics will be acceptable.
(ii) MAUTECH requires Chemistry, Geography, Technical Drawing, Fine Art/Creative Art.
(iii) BAUCHI requires five O’ level credit passes English Language, Mathematics, any two from Fine Arts, Building Construction, Engineering Drawing and one of Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science or Geography.
(iv) ABU requires five “O” level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and any other subject
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates
To apply for Industrial Design as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:
(i) ‘A’ level passes in Two of Fine Arts, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
(ii) ND in Industrial Design or Glass Technology or Fine Art at Credit
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) FUTA accepts Economics, Biology, Geography, and Technical Drawing.
(ii) MAUTECH accepts Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Geography.
(iii) BAUCHI accepts Chemistry, Mathematics and one of Fine Arts, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or Geography.
(iv) ABU requires Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics and any other subject.
