JAMB Subject Combination for Civil Engineering
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Civil Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) ANSU accepts a pass in English Language.
(ii) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other subject in not more than two sittings.
(iii) ESUTECH requires credit pass in English Language and all relevant subjects.
(iv) UNILAG requires a credit pass in Further Mathematics.
(v) FUTA requires five SSCE credit passes or its equivalent at NOT more than two (2) sittings in five (5) subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics English Language and any other science subject.
(vi) RSUST accepts further Mathematics in lieu of Mathematics and requires Agricultural Science or Biology as the fifth subject.
(vii) FUNAAB requires credit pass in Biology.
(viii) UNIJOS requires credit pass in Additional or Further Mathematics as the fifth subject
O’Level Requirements for Civil Engineering for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Civil Engineering)
To apply for Civil Engineering as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one Science subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Civil Engineering)
(i) FUTO and UNN accepts any other Science subjects as the fifth subject and not more than two sittings.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Civil Engineering)
To apply for Civil Engineering as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics.
(ii) ND/HND (Upper credit) at appropriate levels.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIILORIN requires one year post ND/HND experience.
(ii) ESUTECH accepts NCE/ND/First Degree with good grades into 200 or 300 level.
(iii) ABUAD, RSUST, AAU, FUTO and UNIUYO accept ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit) in relevant areas plus UTME requirements.
(iv) MAUTECH accepts ND/HND credit and IJMB in relevant fields with at least three ‘O’ level credits in relevant subjects.
(v) OSUSTECH and UNILAGOS require a credit pass in Further Mathematics as the fifth subject.
(vi) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry
(vii) FUTO accepts any other Science subjects as the fifth subject and not more than two sittings.
(viii) OAU accepts ND Chemical Engineering (Upper credit) only.
(ix)UNIBEN in addition to UTME requirements requires:
(a) First Degree Second Class Lower in the Sciences or Agric; Degree in Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy and PTI HND (Lower Credit) / ND (Upper Credit).
(b) HND (Upper credit) in Engineering/Technology and PTI (HND (Upper credit) into 300 levels.
(c) ND / HND holders should have ‘A’ grade in Mathematics.
(x)UNILAG accepts;
(a) Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
(b) HND/ND (Distinction) or A/Level Cambridge.
(c) Candidate must satisfy the O/Level requirement
(11) UNIILORIN, BAYERO, UNN, LAUTECH and MAUTECH accept ‘A’ level pass in Chemistry
(xii) OAU accepts ND/HND Civil Engineering Upper Credit.
(xiii) FUTMINNA accepts ND/HND lower credit from
recognised institution. It accepts a credit pass in English Lang. and Chemistry.
(xiv) ANSU accepts ND/HND (lower credit) in Civil Engineering.
(xv) MOUA and UI accepts 2 ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics plus UTME requirements. Accepts also ND/HND at upper credit level {65%} accepted to 200/300 Upper levels respectively plus UTME requirements. Knowledge of Further Mathematics is an advantage for all Engineering Courses.
(xvi) IGBINEDION –
(a) Second ‘A’ level should be taken from Mathematics and Chemistry.
(b) ND in any Engineering related field.
(xvii) EKSU accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Civil Engineering
(xviii) UNIBEN – in addition to UTME requirements requires:
(a) First Degree Second Class Lower in the Sciences or Agric; Degree in Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy and PTI HND (Lower Credit) / ND (Upper Credit).
(b) HND (Upper credit) in Engineering/Technology and PTI (HND (Upper credit) into 300 levels.
(c) ND / HND holders should have ‘A’ grade in Mathematics.
(xix) IGBINEDION accepts a credit pass in Chemistry, ND/HND (upper credit) into 200 and 300 levels respectively.
(xx) MAUTECH accepts:
(a) GCE `A’ Level and IJMB passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
(b) Upper/Lower credit in ND in relevant field
(xxi) LAUTECH accepts:
(a) (i) GCE ‘A’ Level Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or
(b) ND with Upper Credit/HND in related discipline (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 level.
(xxii) LAUTECH accepts HND (lower credit) or ND (upper credit) passes into 200 level.
(xxiii) FUT in addition to the UTME requirements accepts ND Upper Credit level or other equivalent professional
qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline from recognised institutions .or Good passes at the General Certificate of Education (Advance Level)) or its equivalent in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics
(xxiv) UNIOSUN accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; Minimum of Lower Credit Pass in Civil or Mechanical Engineering in ND.
(xxii) ABU accepts:
(a) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Physics and Mathematics.
(b) ND/HND (Upper credit) at appropriate levels
(c) HND (Lower Credit) in Civil Engineering from Accredited Institutions.
(xxv) FUAM accepts
(a) Two `A’ level/IJMB passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
(b) Candidates with HND Upper Credit and First Class Degree holders in relevant disciplines may be admitted at 300 level.
(c) Candidates with HND Lower Credit, ND Upper Credit, and NCE (Technical) may be admitted at 200 level.
(d) Holders of NCE with one credit pass in relevant disciplines may be admitted at 100 level. In all the above cases the candidates must posses the UTME requirements.
(xxvi) ABUAD requires three A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(xxvii) OSUSTECH accepts A’ level pass in Chemistry.
(xxviii) FUNAAB requires GCE `A’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or equivalent. It accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines.
(xxix) NDA requires the other Science subject from Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Biology and Geography.
(xxx) NDU – accepts:
(a) At least three (3) ‘A’ level passes at GCE or its equivalent in Physics, Mathematics/Further Mathematics and Chemistry and Five (5) credit level passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE ‘O’ level including English Language, Mathematics/ Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Admission should be to 200 level of study in a five year degree programme.
(b) National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) at Upper Credit and above, in the relevant discipline from an approved Polytechnic or related Institution. ND holders shall be admitted to the 200 level or study in a five year degree programme while HND holders shall be admitted to 300 level. In addition to the above, candidates must have five (5) SCCE/NECO/GCE ‘O’ level credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics/Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(xxxi) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Science subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields.
(xxxii) UNN require A/L passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics plus UTME requirement.
(xxxiii) UNIJOS requires two ‘A’ level or IJMB passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. It also accepts ND (credit level) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution may be considered provided the candidate has credit pass in Mathematics at O’ level.
(xxxiv) UNIABUJA accepts HND (Lower Credit) or ND (Upper Credit) in Civil Engineering from Accredited Institutions plus UTME requirements into 200 level.
