JAMB UTME Subject Combination
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study English and Literary Studies under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are: Literature-in-English, one other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject.
O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates
To apply for English and Literary Studies as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include Literature in English and English Language.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) KASU accepts only subjects from Arts or Social Science
(ii) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Literature in English and any other three subjects, two of which must be Arts subjects.
(iii) AKUTECH require five O/L credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and three other subjects in Arts or Social Science.
(iv) FUOYE also requires credit pass in one Science subject and at least a pass in Mathematics.
(v) UNN requires a Science subject.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates
To apply for English and Literary Studies as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes to include Lit.-in-English and one other Arts subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNICAL accepts NCE with English Literature as teaching subject.
(ii) UNIABUJA – as in English Language.
(iii) NDU requires a pass in English Literature at the Advanced level GCE/or the Principal level in the HSC Examination, or merit at the NCE, and a pass in at least other Arts subject.
(iv) UNN accepts NCE in English in with not lower than C grade (merit) in addition to UTME Entry requirements.
