This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Urban and Regional Planning under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in Nigerian polytechnics and monotechnics. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB Subject Combination for Urban and Regional Planning

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Urban and Regional Planning under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are: Geography and two other subjects from course requirement

U.T.M.E. SUBJECTS SPECIAL REMARKS

(i) NEKEDEPOLY accepts Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(ii) KAD-POLY accepts any three of Mathematics, Geography and any one from Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science.

(iii) RIVPOLY accepts Economics in lieu of Geography.

(iv) OFFAPOLY requires Mathematics, Geography/Economics and any one subject from Sciences or Fine Art.

O’Level Requirements Urban and Regional Planning for UTME Candidates

To apply for Urban and Regional Planning as a UTME candidate, you require: Mathematics,
Geography and three other subjects from:

  • English Language,
  • Economics/Commerce,
  • Fine Art/Technical Drawing,
  • Further Mathematics,
  • Chemistry,
  • Physics,
  • Biology/Agricultural
  • Science,
  • History/Government Business Methods/Bookkeeping and Principles of Accounting.

One of the three subjects must be a basic science subject. At least a credit pass in English Language is compulsory.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Urban and Regional Planning)

To apply for Urban and Regional Planning as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:

(i) IBD-POLY and OSUNTECH require a credit in English Language and Geography.

(ii) ILAROPOLY requires a credit pass in English Language.

(iii) MAPOLY requires four relevant credits at one sitting or five credits at not more than two sittings.

(iv) LASPOTECH requires credits in English and Mathematics and a pass in any of the following science subjects:
1) Physics
2) Chemistry
3) Biology/Agricultural Science plus any one credit from subjects chosen from: Economics, Geography, Art/Tech Draw.

(v) RUGIPO accepts a pass in English Language. Requires Mathematics, Economic/Geography and a Science subject as UTME subject.

(vi) YABATECH credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, one subject from Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and any other from Government, Statistics, Fine Art/Technical Drawing, History, Commerce, Further Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

(vii) EKITIPOLY requires credit passes in Mathematics and Geography, a Basic Science subject and one from English Language, Economics/Commerce, Art/Technical Drawing and Statistics and offers the course as Urban and Regional Planning.

(viii) PLAPOLY requires O/L credits in Mathematics, Eng. Lang, Geography and other subject from Economics, Arts, Tech. Drawing, Government/History, Chemistry, Physics, Biology.

(ix) OSPOLY does not accept History and Government as course requirement. It however requires a credit in Geography

(x) KWARAPOLY does not accept Commerce, Business Method, Agric. Science, Government/History and Account but accepts a Credit Pass in Statistics.

(xi) RUGIPO accepts a pass in English Language.

(xii) NEKEDEPOLY requires credit passes in Mathematics, a Science Subject and any other three subjects chosen from those listed in column 2

(xiii) MAPOLY requires four credits at one sitting or five credits at not more than two sittings to include Mathematics, English language and one science subject. Other subject from Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Geography Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts/Technical Drawing, Government/History, Religious Knowledge, Further Mathematics and Nigerian Language.
