So what I’m going to do for a start is to outline for you the basic ingredients required to bake any plain cookie. Later in the article, I will show you how to alter the flavor to suit your personal taste, preferences and occasions.
Ingredients for Baking Cookies
- 2¼ cups of All-purpose flour
- 1 Cup of Rice flour
- ¾ Cup of grounded sugar
- 1 Teaspoon of Baking soda
- ½ Teaspoon of salt
- 1 Cup of Melted butter
- 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla essence
- Eggs (skip this if you are a vegetarian)
Procedure for Preparing Cookie Dough
Step 1: Before anything else, pre-heat the oven at a temperature of 180 degrees celsius.
Step 2: Get a sizeable bowl. Pour melted butter in it and add powdered sugar. With the help of an electric blender, mix these ingredients together until it becomes creamy.
Step 3: Add a few drops of essence and two eggs. Blend again for some time. Like I said earlier, you can skip eggs if you are a vegetarian. Blend the mixture till it becomes very fluffy.
Step 4: Pour the remaining dry ingredients (rice flour and baking soda) together in another bowl and mix very well. Note that in order to ensure success in baking, you must measure the ingredients accurately using the right measuring instruments and add the ingredients in the order they are called for.
Step 5: Slowly add the creamy mixture to the dry ingredients slowly and blend lightly till you get a near-perfect blend ensuring that every air bubble is busted. Now your dough is ready for baking but there is one more thing to be done before the baking proper. The mixture must be refrigerated for about an hour or two before baking. This reason for this is to allow the cookie dough to ferment a little bit.
How to Bake your Cookie Dough
After you are done with preparing your cookie dough, you need to pay attention to the basic skills required for baking. The truth is that baking is very easy, it just requires you to pay adequate attention to ensure perfection. Step 1: Grease the baking tray with butter. Apply the butter evenly and nicely.
Step 2: Take out your cookie dough/ mixture from the refrigerator and get it reading for shaping. Pour equal portions into your cookie molds and pat them gently to give them the required shape. If you don’t have a cookie mold, you can simply give your cookies a round shape by slowly placing on the baking pan and patting cookie them gently. Remember to always place the cookies in a criss-cross manner in order to allow enough space for it rise when baked.
Step 3: In order to commence the baking, place your baking tray inside the pre-heated oven and note the time. Remove the baking tray from the oven when it’s exactly 20 minutes.
Step 4: Allow the baking tray to cool and you are done. Your tasty cookies are ready for serving. Store them in an air-tight container to preserve their crispness.
