JAMB Brochure for Applied Geophysics Under Faculty of Sciences

This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Applied Geophysics under the Faculty of Sciences in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Applied Geophysics under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are:

Physics Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNICAL does not accept Biology.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Applied Geophysics as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OAU requires five `O’ level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics

(ii) FUTA expected candidates to obtain credits in at least five subjects including English Language, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at NOT more than two sittings in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), NECO, General Certificate of Education Ordinary level (GCE, O/L) or their equivalent.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Applied Geophysics as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OAU requires a’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics

(ii) OAU accepts HND (Upper Credit) in Mining Engineering plus UTME requirements.

(iii) UNICAL requires two ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in Physics and either Chemistry or Mathematics plus WASCE/GCE ‘O’ level/NECO passes at credit level in Physics, English Language, Mathematics and two Science subjects.

(iv) FUTA may be admit candidates to 200 level if they have:
(a) satisfied the general entry requirements for the University as specified in
(a) above; and (b) obtained National Diploma (with a minimum of Upper Credit) or equivalent in Laboratory Technology (Geology Option) and in Mining, Civil and Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or any other course adjudged relevant by the Department; or
(c) good passes at GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent in at least two of the following subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
