JAMB Brochure for Meteorology Under Faculty of Sciences


This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Meteorology under the Faculty of Sciences in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Meteorology under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are:

Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Geography

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Meteorology as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE Credits including Physics, Maths and English Language and either Chemistry or Geography

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) FUTA requires five O’ Level credit passes or its equivalent in NOT more than two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Geography and any other science subject.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Meteorology as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) ND at Upper Credit level in Meteorology in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements. OR (ii)WMO Class II Certificate in Weather Forecasting in addition to the “O” level requirements. (iii) GCE ‘A’ level passes in Maths and Physics in addition to the SSCE requirements.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) FUTA accepts GCE (Advance Level) passes or its equivalent in at least two subjects from the following: Physics, Mathematics and either Chemistry or Geography. Holders of WMO Class II certificate are also eligible for admission.
