Double 2024 UTME registration equals disqualification or court
In order to avoid facing harsh penalties, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a warning to applicants and members of the public who plan to register for the Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2024.
The director of JAMB‘s Test Administration Department, Ville Pius, announced this in a recent bulletin published by the board. Pius issued a warning in her statement, stating that candidates who are found to have registered more than once risk disqualification from the 2024 UTME and/or legal action.
“Candidates who register more than once will be identified, disqualified, and prosecuted; multiple registrations are not allowed in the 2024 UTME exercise,” the spokesperson stated.
On Monday, January 15, 2024, JAMB opens registration for the UTME, and on Monday, February 26, 2024, it ends.

Reps reject motion compelling JAMB, WAEC and NECO to make exams free.
The House of Representatives rejected a motion to make JAMB, WAEC, and NECO registration free for students in 2023-2024. The motion was based on the idea of helping economically disadvantaged parents. The rejected proposal also included urging lawmakers to adopt a local public school and pay students’ exam fees, but some members raised concerns about being compelled to do so.

JAMB reacts to alleged admission controversy, promises transparency
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has responded to allegations that it is obstructing the admission process for candidates, particularly at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). JAMB clarified that its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is designed to ensure transparency and accountability in the admission process, requiring candidates to upload their O’Level results within a specific timeframe.
Candidates who miss this deadline risk disqualification, but those who comply and meet admission criteria will not be excluded. CAPS records the exact date and time of result uploads, providing evidence in case of disputes. JAMB emphasizes its commitment to fairness and equity, pledging to address issues with the University of Lagos. Candidates who believe they deserve admission can utilize JAMB’s complaints platform for resolution.
JAMB stops interference in choice of courses by PWDs
Parents can’t choose courses for disabled kids applying to college in Nigeria anymore, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This change was prompted by concerns raised by the National Association of Visually Impaired at a recent conference. JAMB wants to ensure that disabled candidates have the same choices and opportunities as others when selecting their courses for higher education, promoting fairness and equal access. Government officials and lawmakers are also committed to making education more inclusive for people with disabilities.

Pls, my daughter scored 171, she desires to study Medicine, she had 7Bs & 2 C’s in the just released WAEC 2022 Results, meanwhile she sat for ur 2021 NECO Exams in which she had 2 B, 6 C & 1 D, ps advise.

You did not mention the school(s) she is aspiring to enter.
For most schools in Nigeria, especially federal and state universities, qualification for admission is mainly based on JAMB score. In fact, some school lay 60% emphasis on JAMB score, 30% on post UTME score and only 10% on O’level grades. Some other schools just require you to obtain credit passes in your five core O’level subjects and you are good to go.
So you see that her 7Bs and 2Cs are not as important as the fact that her JAMB score of 171 is too poor for Medicine.
My advice:
1. If she must study medicine (in a federal or state university), she might need to retake JAMB and work harder for a much higher result. Otherwise, you can look for a private university that will accept 171 for Medicine and enroll her there.
2. If she is willing to go for another course, you can buy JAMB Change of Course form and choose a less-competitive course that 171 can get for her.
