Subject Needed for Criminology
In order to do a good job in this section, I’m going to discuss it under two headings:
- Subject Needed for Criminology in JAMB.
- Subject Needed for Criminology in WAEC and NECO (i.e. O’level).
This is needful because the questions I get from candidates show that most of them don’t understand the difference between UTME requirements and O’level requirements as far as admission is concerned.
Subject Needed for Criminology in JAMB
Of course, you already know that JAMB is the examination body that conducts UTME exams in Nigeria. Success in UTME exam qualifies candidates for admission into various courses in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
In the UTME examination, JAMB tests candidates on four subjects. One of these four subjects must be English Language.
So every JAMB candidate is tested on the Use of English no matter their prospective course. It means that Use of English is compulsory for all JAMBites.
The remaining three subjects depend on each candidate’s prospective course. The JAMB brochure for all institutions contains a detailed guide for selecting these three subjects.
According to JAMB Brochure, the main subjects for Criminology are Use of English, Economics, and Mathematics. Actually, the first two are compulsory JAMB subjects for any candidate who wishes to gain admission into Criminology. The candidate can choose the remaining subjects from the social sciences or arts subjects. I believe that I have already answered the question, “Is Maths Compulsory for Criminology in JAMB?” but continue to the next section for a more straightforward answer.
