JAMB Brochure for Architecture. This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Architecture under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB Subject Combination for Architecture

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Architecture under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:
Physics, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology and Economics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Architecture)

(i) FUTA – requires Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Geography and Technical Drawing.

(ii) OAU – requires Mathematics plus any other two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Fine Arts and Building Construction

(iii) UNILAG – requires Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics or Geography.

(iv) ABSU requires Mathematics as UTME subject.

(v) CRUTECH requires credit pass in Mathematics, Economics and any one of Accounting, Commerce and Government.

(v) CALEB requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Economics, Geography, Biology and Chemistry, Fine Art and Technical Drawing.

(vi) UNN requires Mathematics, Physics and one other subject.

(vii) RSUST requires Mathematics, Physics and any other subjects from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Geography Economics, Fine Arts and Building Construction.

(viii) FUTO requires Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

O’Level Requirements for Architecture for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Architecture)

To apply for Architecture as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any of Fine Art, Geography or Wood Work, Biology, Economics, Tech. Draw, Further. Mathematics., Introduction to Building Construction, Bricklaying/Block laying, Concreting, Wall, Floors and Ceiling Finishing, Joinery, Carpentary, Decorative Painting, Lining, Sign and Design, Wall Hanging , Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing, Ceramics, Graphics Design, Graphic Printing, Basic Electricity.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Architecture)

(i) ANSU and MAUTECH accept a pass in English Language.

(ii) AAU and ABSU – Chemistry not compulsory

(iii) UNILAG requires credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Fine Arts or Tech. Drawing and any of Economics, Chemistry, Geography or Biology.

(iv) UNIJOS accepts five credit passes at ‘O’ level Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or equivalent and must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, either Technical Drawing or five Arts and Applied Arts and one of the following: History, Economics, Geography, Chemistry.

(v) MAUTECH and BAUCHI requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two others from any of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Geography, Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

(vi) LAUTECH accepts a credit pass in Technical Drawing/Fine Art in lieu of Biology

(vii) ESUTECH requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Art, Geography, Biology and Economics.

(viii) JABU requires five credit passes English Language, Physics, Mathematics, chemistry and any one of the following Geography, Fine Art, Woodwork, Technical Drawing, Biology or Economics plus National Diploma in relevant subjects at Upper Credit level.

(ix) ABU requires Five ‘0’ level credit passes including English Language, Physics and Mathematics, plus any two of, Geography, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Wood/Metal Work.

(x) FUTA requires five credit passes at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or NECO or GCE O/L or its equivalent at NOT more than two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Physics; and two credits from Technical Drawing, Chemistry, Geography, Fine Arts and Economics. Candidates must have at least a pass in Chemistry.

(xi) BELLS requires Five SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two from the following: Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing/Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

(xii) CALEB requires five SSCE credit passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any two of Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Economics, Biology, Chemistry and Geography.

(xiii) ABSU requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Biology, Surveying etc.

(xiv) BAUCHI requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction or Land Surveying etc.

(xv) RSUST requires five O’ level credits passes including Physics, English Language and Mathematics and any two (2) subjects from Geography, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Chemistry, Building Construction and Economics obtained in not more than two sittings.

(xvi) CRESCENT requires five credits in SSCE/GCE/ NECO including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two subjects from Chemistry, Economics, Fine Arts, Geography, Biology, Technical Drawing, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

(xvii) FUTO requires at least five credits at ‘O’ Level in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics plus any other subject taken from Biology, Geography, Economics, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Architecture)

To apply for Architecture as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.

(ii) ND/HND upper credits in relevant field.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Architecture)

(i) UNN accepts:

(a) ND in Architectural Technology or Building Technology at upper credit level plus the UTME requirements.

(b) GCE A’ level, HSC or equivalent passes in Mathematics and Physics, and any other subject plus UTME requirement.

(ii) OAU requires three A/L passes chosen from Mathematics, and two other subjects from Physics, Economics and Tech. Drawing.

(iii) FUTA accepts (ND) in Architecture or related disciplines with Upper Credit level pass, from NBTE accredited institutions may be considered for admission for Direct Entry provided they meet the minimum entry requirements
Candidates with the GCE ‘A’ level passes in at least two subjects from Mathematics, Geography and Physics can also be considered for admission provided they meet the minimum entry requirements.

(iv) UNIUYO, OAU, UNIJOS, AAU and LAUTECH require ND/HND (Upper Credit) in Architecture or other relevant qualifications, plus UTME requirements. UNIUYO accepts HND (lower credit).

(v) AAU and RSUST accept ND/HND (upper credit) in relevant fields into 200 and 300 level respectively plus UTME requirements. RSUST requires A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics and any other three subjects from English Language, Building Construction, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Chemistry may be admitted into 200 level.

(vi) FUTMINNA accepts candidates who have undergone an accredited course in Architecture in any of the approved Colleges of Technology or Polytechnics in addition to UTME requirements.

(vii) IMSU – requires ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics and accepts NCE (Credit) in relevant fields.

(viii) MAUTECH accepts Two `A’ Level passes from Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry, TD, Fine Art Geography and Economics

(viv) ANSU accepts ND/HND lower credit in Architecture.

(xv) BAUCHI:

a) Require two ‘A’ level pass or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

b) Accepts ND/HND with upper credits in fields relevant to Architecture

(xvi) UNILAG requires;

(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics or Geography or Fine Arts

(b) HND/ND (Distinction) in Architecture into 300/200 level and O/Level requirements.

(xvi) KUST runs the course for four (4) years duration for UTME and three (3) years for DE at the moment. May consider HND (Upper Credit) or Degree (Third Class) in Architectural Technology for a special admission into 300 Level.

(xvii) LAUTECH accepts:

(a) GCE ‘A’ Level Passes minimum of two in any of Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Fine Arts and Mathematics

(b) ND with Upper Credit/ HND in Architecture may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(xviii) JABU accepts five O level credit passes in subjects plus ND at Upper credit level.

(xiv) ABU accepts two ‘A’ level/IJMB passes which must include Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.

(xv) BELLS accepts

(a) Two A’ Level passes from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

(b) ND/HND (Upper Credit respectively) in Architecture.

(c) May consider Lower Credit in ND/HND

(xx) CALEB accepts ND at Credit level in Architecture or Sciences related studies may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sitting.

(xvi) ABSU accepts candidates with ND, HND in relevant fields and must have obtained the UTME entry requirement.

(xvii) CRESCENT accepts;

(a) Holders of Higher School Certificate HSC/GCE “A” Level, IJMB equivalent passes in Mathematics and Physics or and any other subject indicated above.

(b) ND, HND Certificate in Architecture or Allied Subject at credit level can be considered for Admission into the relevant programme at appropriate level.

(xviii) FUTO requires:

a. At least three `A` Level passes not below Grade C in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

b. At least Upper Credit ND/HND in relevant fields and does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet the UTME ‘O’ Level requirements.
