JAMB Brochure for Pure and Applied Chemistry. This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Pure / Applied Chemistry under the Faculty of Sciences in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

  • Hezekiah University
  • Ladoke Akintola University of Technology
  • Niger Delta University
  • University of Jos
  • University of Nigeria

JAMB Subject Combination for Pure and Applied Chemistry

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Pure / Applied Chemistry under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are: Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Pure and Applied Chemistry)

To apply for Pure / Applied Chemistry as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Pure and Applied Chemistry)

To apply for Pure / Applied Chemistry as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:
(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology.
(ii) ND/NCE with good grades in relevant ‘O’ level subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Pure and Applied Chemistry)

(i) UNN does not accept Biology.

(ii) JOS accepts Chemistry and Physics.

(iii) LAUTECH accepts:
a) Two ‘A’ Level Passes in Chemistry Mathematics, Physics or Biology.
b) ND with Upper Credit/ HND in related discipline (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(iv) UNN does not accept A’ level Biology.

(v) NDU accepts:
a) National Diploma (ND) Upper Credit in Chemistry or any of the Sciences or Applied Sciences, e.g. Engineering, etc or National Certificate of Education (NCE) merit upper credit.
b) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemistry and in addition must have five SSCE/GCE or NECO ‘O’ Level credits obtained in not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
