You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

  • Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
  • Obafemi Awolowo University
  • Olabisi Onabanjo University

JAMB Subject Combination for Yoruba

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Yoruba under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are: Yoruba and two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Yoruba)

(i) UI – Yoruba and two other subjects in Arts or Social Science.

(ii) OAU requires Use of English and three subjects from Arts and/or Social Sciences.

(iii) OOU – Yoruba and two Arts subjects.

O’Level Requirements for Yoruba for UTME Candidates

To apply for Yoruba as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include Yoruba and English Language.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Yoruba)

(i) UI requires 5 ‘O’ level Credits at ONE sittings or 6 ‘O’ level Credits at TWO sittings including English Language and two Arts subjects one of which must be Yoruba

(ii) UNILORIN accepts candidates who do not offer Yoruba (Language/Literature) but meet other UTME entry requirement.

(iii) OAU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and any Arts subject.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Yoruba)

To apply for Yoruba as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes to include Yoruba or Literature in English.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNILORIN require NCE in Yoruba and Social Science subject.

(ii) UI accepts Two ‘A’ level passes to include Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject. Accepts also accepts NCE to include Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject at Merit or better still Credit level.

(iii) OAU accepts NCE in Yoruba (with merit and above).
