MEDICINE & SURGERY ASPIRANTS: Change to any of these courses if you have a low JAMB Score

MEDICINE & SURGERY ASPIRANTS: Change to any of these courses if you have a low JAMB Score

jamb subject combination

Sincerely speaking, getting admission in Nigeria is very difficult. Inasmuch as it is true that most Nigerian youths have become lazy and lost interest in academics, there are some who still have lofty academic and career dreams and are willing to give it their best. There are still many brilliant and hard working students who write JAMB and come out with scores that they are not proud of. They get low scores not because they weren’t prepared or didn’t know what to write, but sometimes because of the usual frustration experienced by Nigerians in every Nigerian system. Some have network issues, others are given old malfunctioning computers and so on.

I am writing this article because I believe that no matter what happens, if a candidate is properly guided, s/he will still be able to gain admission. So I want to let you know that it is possible to change your course if, for whatever reason, you had a low score in JAMB. I’m going to show you the courses you can change to if you formerly chose medicine and surgery.

I’m aware that there are candidates who insist on studying medicine at all cost. Such candidates would rather lose a year than change their course. Some are ready to spend as much as 6 years at home repeating JAMB in hope of getting medicine. I understand such people and wish them well.

This post is for those who need an alternative, those who may have tried JAMB several times and now want to enter school regardless of the course. But this is also for those who understand that Medicine and Surgery is very competitive and they will not be able to get it with their low JAMB score but can still change their course to Medicine and Surgery after 1st year.

Why am I suggesting these courses?

The reason why I am suggesting these courses is because of the vital importance of having the correct UTME subject combination of a course before one can be admitted into it. So the courses I will be outlining for you shortly are courses that have the same subject combination as Medicine and surgery. More so, they are courses that are not very competitive. If you choose any of them and work hard for a good Post-UTME score, you will be admitted.

  1. I got 192 in jamb can I study medicine or which other medical course can I study

    • First, we have to know the school you are interested in.

Next is to come to terms with the fact that your JAMB score (192) is very low as far as medical courses are concerned.

If you want to gain admission on merit, it may not be advisable to continue pursuing medical courses. You can change to another course that your UTME subject combination is suitable for.

If you want to know such courses, let me know by responding to this reply.

  2. Pls I wanna study nursing in UNN nd I got 192 in my jamb.

Also is wots d jamb cut off mark for nursing in UNN?
    Is it 180 or 200?

    • JAMB cut-off mark for nursing is 180.

But because the course is very competitive, it may be advisable to change it, except you are super intelligent and ready to go the extra mile in your studies to achieve your desire.
