What is Law?

Law is a set or system of rules that are created and are enforceable by social or governmental institutions to regulate behavior or conduct. These rules are recognized as binding by every individual concerned. It has been variously described as a science and the art of justice.

In other words, Law is the system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.

What is Rule of Law?

The rule of law is the political philosophy, mechanism and practice that supports the fact that all citizens and institutions within a country, state, or community are equal and accountable to the same laws, including lawmakers, the rich and political leaders.

Law as a Course

The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or B.L.) is an undergraduate degree in law (or a first professional degree in law, depending on jurisdiction).

JAMB Subject Combination for Law / JAMB UTME Requirements in Nigeria

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Law under the Faculty of Law in the above Universities include any three Arts or Social Science subjects.

BU, UNILORIN, UNN, UNIBEN, AAU and OAU require Literature in English plus any two (2) subjects.
UNILAG does not accept Music, Fine Arts, and Principles of Account and accepts either Economics or Commerce but not both.

UI – accepts Science subjects.

DELSU and ABU require Literature in English and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
