How to Retrieve JAMB Registration Number

What is JAMB Registration Number?

JAMB registration number is a unique 10-character alpha-numeric code assigned by JAMB to each candidate registering for UTME or Direct Entry. The registration number has 8 digits and 2 alphabets at the end. So this means that JAMB registration number is the candidate’s identity. They use it to access and unlock every service relating to JAMB.

In line with my commitment to keep my readers informed, I have done a lot of posts around JAMB registration. I’ve shown you how to obtain JAMB e-pin. I have also explained in details how to get JAMB Profile code. With all these information, you can confidently proceed to do your JAMB registration.

On successful registration, you will obtain your own JAMB registration number.

Uses of JAMB Registration Number

Sadly, many candidates misplace their JAMB registration numbers. A lot of others just forget theirs.

How to Retrieve JAMB Registration Number

I will show you 8 easy ways to retrieve or get back your JAMB registration number. If you did JAMB regularization but could not get your JAMB registration number, just scroll to number 7.

Below are the 8 ways to retrieve JAMB registration number…

  1. Recheck your JAMB result via SMS.
  2. Check the email you used for JAMB registration.
  3. Reprint JAMB slip using JAMB phone number.
  4. Reprint your JAMB slip using your email.
  5. Check your change of course/institution slip.
  6. Login to your JAMB profile and check under CAPS.
  7. Contact JAMB to get your registration number.
  8. Use JAMB Post-Registration e-Facility.

So let’s discuss each of them briefly.

1. Recheck Your JAMB Result via SMS

how to check jamb result with phone

JAMB has released the UTME result for this year. By now, most candidates have checked their JAMB result through SMS. I believe that you are not an exception. Alright.

So if you have previously checked your JAMB result via SMS, look for the SMS on your phone. Your JAMB registration number is in there.

However, it is possible that you have lost the SMS I’m referring to. Maybe you deleted it mistakenly. Not to worry. You can recheck your result now. The method is the same and JAMB will charge you N50 for their service.

In case you have forgotten, here is a reminder. Just send UTME RESULT to 55019. When you do this, you will receive an SMS containing your JAMB registration number and scores.

2. Check the email You Used for JAMB Registration

Every JAMB candidate is expected to have a valid and functional JAMB email. The email may be the one you used to register your UTME or Direct Entry. Otherwise, it may be the one you linked to your JAMB Profile. (See How to Link Your Email to Your Profile on JAMB Portal.)

So to retrieve your JAMB registration number using this method, you need to access your email account. You can do so using your email app or device browser.

Once you get into your email account page or window, locate the search box. Type “JAMB slip” and click “search” or hit “enter” on your device. All the mails JAMB has sent to you so far will come up in the search result. Locate the one with an attachment (📎) or any JAMB message that entered the day you linked your email.

So you have it there. Just click and download the slip. You will find your JAMB registration number on it.

3. Reprint JAMB Slip Using JAMB Phone Number

Your JAMB registration number is right there on your JAMB slip. This slip is given to you immediately after you registered for your UTME or DE.

You can use your JAMB phone number to retrieve your JAMB registration number through this JAMB Official Link. Click on the link. When it opens, enter your JAMB Phone number and click on Print Slip.

Your JAMB exam slip will pop up. On the slip, you will find your JAMB registration number and exam number.

4. Reprint Your JAMB Slip Using Your email

This method is virtually the same with number 2 above. I added this in case you want to use the method but have lost your JAMB phone number. In this case, you can rather use your email address to reprint the exam slip. Of course, your exam slip contains your JAMB registration number.

5. Check your Change of Course/Institution Slip

This method is obviously not for everybody. It is exclusive for candidates who have done JAMB Change of Course or Institution. If have done such a change before, you must have been given a confirmation slip for that. This slip gives a quick detail of the changes.

Look through that slip, you will find your JAMB registration number on it.

6. Login to Your JAMB Profile and Check Under CAPS

How to retrieve JAMB registration number on JAMB CAPS

If you can gain access to your JAMB profile and check under the CAPS, you will see your JAMB registration number there. However, this is possible only for candidates who have linked their email to their JAMB profile. If you haven’t, you would not be able to login to your JAMB profile. See How to Link Your Email to Your Profile on JAMB Portal.

If you have linked your email, login to your JAMB profile. In the JAMB CAPS section, click on the Admission Status Link. You will see all your details including your JAMB registration number.

7. Contact JAMB to Get Your Registration Number

This is especially for candidates who have done JAMB regularization and have gotten approval from JAMB. Sometimes, such candidates do not have JAMB registration number even though their regularization has been approved by the board.

If you are one of such, all you need to do is to send a complaint to JAMB support. The JAMB support team will reply to you within a reasonable period. Check the reply, your JAMB registration number is there.

8. Use JAMB Post-Registration e-Facility

So we have come to the last method. For this method, you will have to log on to JAMB website. When you are on JAMB website, follow these simple steps to retrieve your JAMB registration number.

  • Click on the E-facility link.
  • Go under Post-Registration e-Facility and click on Retrieval of Registration Number.
  • Fill out the provided form with the above-listed required parameters.
  • After filling out the form, click on the submit button to see your JAMB Registration Number.

Note, however, that there is a fee attached to this method. The fee for the retrieval of JAMB Registration Number is N1000 only. So ensure that you have the money before using this method.
