JAMB Brochure for Igbo. This part of the JAMB brochure shows you the requirements to apply for Igbo under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Nigeria. You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB Subject Combination for Igbo

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Igbo under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are: Igbo and two subjects from Arts and social Sciences.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Igbo)

(i) UNILAG requires Igbo, and any two from Geography, Yoruba, History, Literature. in English, CRK/IRS, French, Govt / Economics, Commerce and Fine Arts and Biology.

(ii) UNIZIK accepts Chinese in lieu of Igbo.

O’Level Requirements for Igbo for UTME Candidates

To apply for Igbo as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include Igbo, English Language and any other Arts subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks (JAMB Brochure for Igbo)

(i) UNILAG require English Language, Igbo and any one of French, History, Literature in English, Yoruba Music and CRK/IRS Geography, Government, Economics , Business Management, Commerce, Fine Arts and Biology.

(ii) UI requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings to include English Language and two Arts other subjects one of which must be Igbo.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (JAMB Brochure for Igbo)

To apply for Igbo as a Direct Entry candidate, you require:

(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Igbo and one Arts/Social Science subject.

(ii) NCE in Igbo and one Arts subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks in JAMB Brochure for Igbo

(i) UI accepts NCE to include Igbo and another Arts or Social Science subject at merit /credit level. Accepts also At least 2 ‘A’ level pass to include Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject.

(ii) UNILAG requires not less than grade ‘D’ in ‘A’ level or NCE in Igbo and the other A/Level subject to be from History, French, Yoruba Hausa, CRK/IRS, Literature-in-English and Govt/Economics.

(iii) UNILAG requires the other Arts subjects to be chosen from History. Literature in English, CRK/IRS, Hausa, Yoruba, French and Government/Economics. Also accepts NCE plus UTME requirements.
